Why Not Remain and Learn?

“Turning away from him, ignoring his words because they’re just too hard to understand is not profitable, not life-sustaining. IF YOU DON’T GET IT TODAY, HANG AROUND. You might get it tomorrow. He said his words were Spirit, the very Spirit of God, and life eternal. Good luck finding such stuff like that somewhere else.”

Into Our Predicament

“God is very intentional, very active. God comes, God reveals, and God acts on our behalf. Amid God’s actions, there is something that begins to take place. We begin to believe that God’s activity is for our benefit, AND WE BECOME ACTIVE, AS WELL.”

Who Has Authority?

“When we want God to hear our pleas for our flesh and blood enemies to be destroyed by divine action, it ought to make sense for us now that God is not likely to answer such pleas.”

Under Conviction

“I was desperate to experience the goodness of God in the churches I pastored. They prayed for me. I entered that lunch date desperate. I left that restaurant under conviction.”

Get Attention

“The issue isn’t about getting the king’s attention. Such attention is simple evidence that something is happening. Is there evidence of things happening among us, and who’s attention are we getting?”

In a Snapshot

“It was glorious.  In a snapshot, we all believed people’s lives were changed or being changed by the grace, mercy, truth & power of God that met them as they arose from the water with new life.  Alleluia.”

A Faith of Pursuit

“Sell all that religiosity (you can’t even give the stuff away) before considering the actions and determinations of people like the suffering woman and Jairus. Consider the actions of people like this first. What do they do that makes all the difference?”

God’s Great Big Things

“These stories stir in us a passion to draw near to God and trust his will to truly be best for all of us, and God’s will is most dramatically seen and given to us in the words and life of Jesus Christ.”

Owed Some Explaining

“Maybe the heart of anything we’ve read or heard about Jesus today or any Sunday, any quiet time of devotions or study is found in our last verse today – “He explained everything in private to his disciples.” You and I are still owed some explaining.”
